How To Budget Your Life In 5 Mins Or Less

The system is an idea I came up with that stems from Dave Ramsey's envelope system. My version is very simple and also teaches you organization.

Things you'll need:

1. Binder
2. Construction Paper
3. Envelopes of some kind
4. Hole Punch and Glue Sticks

Every time you get paid "deposit" your money into the correct envoples. Your sections could be things like rent, electricity, phone bill, etc. I I have a weekly savings as well as a section for some life changes.

This system has really helped me save and pay my bills on time. I thought this could benefit someone just as it has me.

Step 1: Choose/Gather Supplies

Decide what you would like to use as you pages for the system. I chose file folders because they are nice and sturdy. They also come in an array of colors so that was great.

Step 2: Cut pages and Punch holes

You are going to want to measure your pages so that the fit the binder perfectly. Once you have them cut then line them up for the hole puncher. If you want to make sure they are secure you can you get the binder hole protectors.

Step 3: Glue Envelopes and Name Tabs

Take your envelopes and glue or tape them down with the opening facing you. Once you have glued down your envelopes it’s time to name your tabs. I recommend making the first few pages reaccurring bills then the rest for anything else. Name the tabs what the bills or things your saving for are for example; Rent, Car Note, or Saving.

Step 4: Choose your Logging method

When I first started off I just used memory but it is good to keep record so you know what you have. You can use anything really.. I chose a chore chart from the dollar store lol.

Here is my finished product:

Remember this is your budgeting system so try things out and do what works best for you. Show 2018 what $5 and a little commitment!!
